Celebrations of Love
Creating your perfect day
Whether it is a wedding, civil partnership, renewal of vows or an engagement, a celebrant-led ceremony will be bespoke and meaningful to you. It will be personalised entirely for you with no restrictions on content, format or style.
My role as a celebrant is to create a magical day designed entirely around you and your needs.
I’ll work closely with you, your family and your friends to learn more about you and what I can do to tailor the ceremony.
As I am completely unrestricted you can customise every aspect of the ceremony to your heart’s content. From the choice of music, to the location, whether it is indoors or outdoors, the seating arrangements or even the words that are used; a celebrant ceremony offers you complete flexibility.
It’s important to note that it isn’t a legally binding ceremony, so you will need to arrange your marriage paperwork separately. The simplest option may be to take two witnesses to your local registrar office and sign the documents, leaving everything else until the actual celebrant ceremony.
What is a Celebrant-led Service?
Everything is bespoke to the couple at each stage - such as including readings and music and asking friends and family to take active roles in the ceremony.
Some couples choose to make a dramatic or choreographed entrance or exit, add rituals, cultural or religious elements - it's entirely up to you!
What type of Venue
Indoors on outside
Find a venue that suits your tastes. Whether you go for a hotel, beach, woodland, barn or manor house .... Do you feel excited - listen to your instincts !
The location will be important. If you have guests travelling from across the country (or from abroad), good transport links will make sure everyone arrives relaxed.
Focus on your venue - access may be important for elderly guests and wheelchair users or those with babies and toddlers. Consider the provisions for lighting and sound - will your guests be able to see and hear our vows? And if the ceremony will be held outside, what happens if there is rain or high winds?
The best thing to do is to visit more that one venue and more than once so you can appreciate what the space looks like as you arrive, during the ceremony and during the party!
Creating and Delivering your Ceremony
Clients come to me when they need a special ceremony designed and performed. It is usually a one-off event that requires much thought, care and consideration. This can be a stressful time for you, so my role is to guide, help and support you according to your wishes. This page explains how we work together.
Capturing your ideas
Once you have contacted me I send you a short questionnaire to capture your initial ideas about the celebration.
Performing the Ceremony
On the day of your ceremony I arrive early and tend to all the last minute details, so you can feel as relaxed as possible.
What qualifications do you hold?
I am a Civil Celebrant accredited by The Celebrants Collective, with a lifelong background in creating and organising bespoke learning events and if you would like to know more about my journey you can read my "Spotlight Interview" here
Where can you perform ceremonies?
The specific venues can be entirely up to you and what your plans are for the event. They could include hotels, country estates, social clubs, a cliff top, the beach or your own back garden.
I can perform a celebrant-led ceremony anywhere and am will to travel if you cover reasonable expenses. I am based in East Anglia for the majority of the year (with frequent hops over to the West of Ireland!).
Are civil ceremonies legally binding?
A celebrant ceremony is not legally binding, so the marriage or civil partnership will need to be registered either before or after the ceremony. This could be as simple as just signing the paperwork in your local registrar office, in the presence of two witnesses.
